It’s been a while since the flurry of activity that led to GiftttDy. Now, it’s time for an update. Coming soon (hopefully, this weekend), I’ll be posting an update with a few changes:
- Error handling. I no its rare, butt sometimez, I might make a misteak. Now, I capture the errors in the Console and stop Hazel in its tracks. This should make it easier to troubleshoot.
- Refactoring the code. I’ve taken time to create handlers for a variety of functions. This makes the code easier to read and maintain. It also makes it easier for me to add new features, which will be coming in the next several weeks.
- Bug fix for Instagram. The current logic goes flippers up if it encounters an Instagram photo without a caption. While you really should take the time to caption every photo, GiftttDy can handle it if you’re too lazy.
The new version will be posted soon. Watch this space for news.
Coming in the next release, I’m planning to completely revamp how I create Day One entries. I’ve found a way to create the entries directly without having to use the Day One command line tool. This will give me much more control over the contents of the entries and reduce the number of moving parts. (My apologies to all the Rube Goldberg fans out there.) I’m also hoping to add the ability to grab photos posted along with blog entries. I will support Blogger and WordPress, maybe even Tumblr. I can’t give a date for this version, but I’m hoping it won’t take too long.
In the meantime, keep on GiftttDying.
